Food for Thought

Check out our blog, start thinking about your "teacher blog", and leave a comment to our Food for Thought of the week:

William Butler Yeats said, "Education should not be the filling of a bucket, but rather the lighting of a fire."  Do you agree?  Can it be both? Should it be both? Share your thinking.

Reflection on Week 1

We have gotten off to a great start; I loved reading your "Who Am I?" stories and learning more about what has brought you to this time and this place.  I think we are well-suited and will all learn from each other and grow personally and professionally this semester.

My food for thought this week is:

There will always be stones on the path of your life. Will you use them to build a wall or a bridge? Remember, you are the architect of your life.

Walls provide protection, but while keeping us safe, they also prevent us from taking the necessary risks to grow and change.  As you move toward your goal of teaching, this is not a time to be isolated.  We must collaborate, share, assist, and lift up one another in order to get the job done.  There is strength in numbers, so my challenge to you ~ let's build a bridge together this semester...a bridge that will carry each of us closer to our dreams and aspirations.  I am excited to put on my work boots and some heavy gloves to dig down and get the hard work done alongside you.

I can't wait to see this semester unfold with each of you.

WEEK 1

This week's PowerPoint slideshow is posted in the PowerPoint section.  The tab for this page is at the top of the blog.  Have fun surfing through the blog.  Let me know if there is something you would like to see posted here.  My goal is always for this blog to be your sort of "one stop shopping" spot for BPC education classes.

Have a great week!

SPRING 2014

I am so excited to be starting another semester with a new group of my BPC students! This is an exciting and productive semester that helps set students up for success in 21st century classrooms. We move at a fast pace, so it is important that everyone be together in our weekly Elluminate chats. Each of you will have important things to contribute to our class.
